The late Mrs Nancye Yeates

Mrs Nancye Yeates was the first National Secretary of the PRSA, from 1982-83. She later became the President of the then Victorian Branch of the PRSA in 1992.

While in New Zealand in 1997, Nancye met the then Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand - who is now the Rt. Hon. Winston Peters - and invited him, if he was visiting Australia, to address a meeting of the PR Society. She was very pleased when he accepted that. His much-appreciated address to the Society took place at the University of Melbourne, in 1997.

At the end of the meeting, Nancye thanked him, and gave him a small present from the Society. Nancye Yeates appears at the right hand edge of a photograph of PRSA members with Mr Peters taken just after the meeting.

In 2015, Nancye became a Life Member of the PRSA's Victoria-Tasmanian Branch, and then of the PRSA.

Nancye Yeates died, aged 91, on Monday, 04 January 2021, at St Helens in Tasmania, She and her  husband, Bill, moved there from Victoria, after his retirement. She was buried in the St Helens Cemetery.
